    Conitional formating of a row based on the text in one cell

    Hi there,

    This will be an easy one for someone!

    I am trying to higlight a row from A3 to O3 when the text in L3 is "Comp"

    Select the required range, i.e. A3:O3 (or include more rows if you need) then use the "Use a formula to determine which cells to format" and use this formula

    =$L3="Comp"

    and set formatting as required

    Note the $, that's essential

    Edit: those were instructions for Excel 2007 - in Excel 2003 it's the same formula but it's applied slightly differently - you need to select "formula is" option from dropdown list

    That worked perfectly so I just made the cell a drop down box with "pending" and "comp" which has made a slight difference. When I drop down and choose comp it only highlights that cell until I scroll up or down, then the full row highlights?
