Putting a list of numbers into groups

I'm not sure what the best way to do this is. I have a list of numbers that i want to put in different groups. Should i put the whole list into a table?

What i am trying to do is track finances. I have a list of everything I've spend over the past month and i want to break them in to different categories like food, entertainment. Thanks.

Hi dcohen, welcome to the forum.

If you create a table with several columns, like date, amount, category, etc, and each booking in its own row, then you can use a pivot table to sum by date, category, etc.
