    Cell format, removing apostrophe

Hi, I am trying to remove the ' that is infront of each word or number in each cell of a spreadsheet that has been downloaded for me. I need to do this so that my vlookup formula can recognise and match cells, when the ' is in place is finds no match.

    Re: Cell format, removing apostrophy.

    1) Highlight the range of cells
    2) Press CTRL-H to open the SEARCH/REPLACE wizard
    3) Search for '
    Replace with nothing

If it doesn't work, check the OPTIONS for Search:Values and do not match entire cell

    Re: Cell format, removing apostrophe

thanks, its a bit tricky as some of the item descriptions actually use the apostrophy sign, i.e.
15'' Nipper. The descriptions are so similar in many cases that only an exact match will be viable in my vlookup formula. But what I think I will do is to split the description, remove the apsotrophy and add it back to the rest of the text...just thought of that, this forum is awesome, thank you.
