Sorting chart X axis based on yearly Quarters

Can someone please tell me how I can sort the Legend on the attached chart so that it is in a sequential order according to Quarters in a year.

    Ex. Q1-2010 Q2-2010 Q3-2010 Q4-2010 Q1-2011 Q2-2011

do you mean the legend or the X axis categories?

I think you're talking about the X axis. Sort your underlying data to be in the correct order.

Post some sample data then it will be easy to explain.

Re: Sorting chart legend based on yearly Quarters

As you have requested, I have attached a sample file of what I am working with.

I am trying to figure out a way to represent quarters in a year so that I can ultimately show how many tasks are to be completed in upcoming quarters. Also, I have yet to be able to figure out how to sort using the formula and naming convention that I have to be in actual sequential order of a year. Q1 Q2 Q3 etc, with the year.

Ok, so it's a pivot chart.

toss out the Date field and put the Date completed field in its place. Then right-click one of the dates in the pivot chart and select Group ... Highlight quarter and year and hit OK.

    done.
