    Combo Line & Scatter Chart

    Hello-

I am trying to do a combo scatter and line chart. The scatter portion of the chart is going to show the # of tickets we have completed since each day 2/15/10. The line portion is going to show the ticket capacity depending on how many people we have on the help desk. The info is as follows:

    Scatter Chart

    # of Tickets
    153
    155
    132
    113
    93
    156
    124
    154
    127
    183
    167
    185
    115
    160
    185
    188
    189
    271
    301
    138
    140
    494

    Line Chart

    Tier 1 Capacity
    248
    270
    293
    315
    338
    360
    383
    405

I have attached an image (I think) that shows what I want. The line is just drawn on top of the chart. you can see the problem with 2 tickets that should be above the line are below it. The Tier 1 capacity means if all 20 agents are on Tier 1 the max tickets we can handle is 405. If 19 are on Tier 1 and 1 is on tier 2 the max # is 383 and so on.

    Any thoughts?

    thanks

#Tickets has data point for each day.
What do the data points for Tier1 relate to?
    Cheers

That's the website where I got the idea for the chart, but I couldn't get it to work for what I am wanting to do.

Andy they do really relate to anything. They just show what are maximum capicity is depending on how many people we have on the elp desk. We are trying to show at what point we remove people from Tier 2 to work at Tier 1 so we can handle more calls.

So how do you know whether a #Ticket data point should be above or below a line.

Currently you appear to be comparing chalk and cheese.

The attached is a xy-scatter with 1 series display markers only.

As they both have the same default x values the Tier line only covers 8 days worth of ticket sales.

Re: Combo Line & Scatter Chart

I don't know that's the part I am missing. What I want is to have the # of tickets we have completed on the chart as data points. then I want a line that goes from 248 to 405. All the tickets #'s that are greater that 248 should be above the line and all the tickets less than 248 should be below the line. I may be making it more complicated than it is. Maybe I need to do the tier capacity as labels as mentioned in the website above for the arbitrary axis example to show what the different tier levels can handle. http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/...Gridlines.html

So acutally all you need is a line that goes from low to high value for each tier.

Yes but I want the dots to be on the appropriate side of the line. Therefore 271,301,494 should be above the line

Re: Combo Line & Scatter Chart

Take a step back and try and explain your data again.

Why does Tier1 data have 8 data points?
What is the relationship between the 8 tieir points and the 22 ticket data points?

Should you be drawing horizontal lines for each of the Tier data points?
