Drop down menu in spreadsheet

Hello, so I know there is a way to put a drop down menu in my spreadsheet so that only those items can be selected. So if I have a column a for example the only items in the drop down menu for example would be Y or N or Totaled.

yeah except i can't see it i have a 2003 or open office. but i waqs able to open it and there was a drop down menue available but no options?
