    Dynamic Graphing

    Hi all,

I would really appreciate some help with this.

I need to check the performance of a number of machines on a weekly basis. The best way to do this is compare curves variables produce visually. So basically for each individual machine I will have an individual graph.

I want to use drop down boxes to select which variable to display on each axis so that all the variables are interchangeable. Then have a number of drop down boxes allowing me to choose which weeks to display on the graph.

Thanks for anyhelp you may have

    Re: Dynamic Graphing

    Hi Teylyn,

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of that site and i do have a basic knowledge of dynamic graphing however this problem is totally vexing me.

I have attached a picture in an attempt to illustrate what i am trying to achieve.

In this example i put data for four variables (Variable A,B,C,D) with three weeks of data (in reality i will have many many weeks of data). This data is in cells C20:F46.

I then put drop down boxes in cells c2 and c10 representing the x and y axis of my graph respectively. I have the data in E2:H14 set up so when a variable in the drop down box is selected it automatically equals the data in C20:F46. in this case variable B and D. Cells B2:B5 illustrate the data in the drop down boxes.

I have 3 ranges set up in I18:K18 (Range 1,2,3). Under neath these are drop down boxes with the names of each week in them.

The graph should explain the rest.

Is it possible to do what i am trying?

    Thanks for your help

michael, please use the forum's upload facilities to upload a file. Our company's WebMarshal would not let me access the yfrog site because it lists it in the "Harmful and stealth" category.

In any case, posting a picture is not very helpful. Post a workbook with some sample data, so that suggestions can be tested without having to re-create your file.

    Hi SHG

That does do what i want.

But is more complicated than i thought it was going to be.

It is going to take me time to go through it and understand how it all works especially the UDF part

    Thanks for the help

    Re: Dynamic Graphing

You can get rid of the UDF and list the variables as you were previously.
