a 250 increase in students means, 1 more agent. arithmetic progression???

i have been trying to figure this out for hours. i am going insane.

if I have less that 500 students, i need 2 tech support agents.
for every 250 students i have OVER 500, i will need one more tech agent.

so if i have 740 stuends, i will need 3 agents.
for 760 studens, i will need 4 agents.

    and so on

i have a really complex sheet going, and i prefer not to tell you what i have been trying to use to solve this.

i have a massive list of possible student quantities. and i need to produce the formula so i can have the list of agent quantities beside it.

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Re: Please help! i am freaking out!!! i know this is probably simple!!!

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
    Hope that helps.

    Perhaps you mean:

    =2+CEILING(MAX(0,A1-500),250)/250

where A1 contains # of students
