Cannot create an index - need to plot house price index against time

    Hi,

It's my first post, so please be nice!

I am doing a dissertation that involves looking at house prices. My simple question is this, I have 2 different data sets of house prices over time and want to make an index of them, so I can map them on a graph starting at 100%. (I hope that makes sense).

How do I create an index of the data? I have tried typing "=INDEX" but haven't managed to figure it out...?

Any help would be great and if you need clarification on anything let me know (I'm dyslexic)!

Re: Cannot create an index - need to plot house price index against time

Sorry, I hope that's better! I was having a bit of a stress trying to figure it out and must admit I skimmed the rules

I have attached my sheet, I have the prices from year 2000-2010 and want to index both sets (semi-detached and detached) against the price of semi-detached in the 1st quarter of 2000.

    Thanks!

Ok, I've figured it out. I just had to put the data over the quarter 1 2000 figure and multiply by 100 to give me an index.

I have now copied the graphs into a word doc and it is removing and adding data. E.g. the line graph with detached and semi detached housing now has 3 series, with an additional detached in a new colour....why is this happening?
