Cannot use this file as it stands (I issue a challenge! Best of the best!)

    Hi guys!

I'd like someone to help me out - I submitted a thread earlier, and someone provided me with a spreadsheet that would change my life!

    EXCELHELP_PHONELIST.xls

Can someone replicate this, only this time, don't lock it up so that it can be used freely by anyone creating a database!!!

I, and everyone else, would appreciate this sooo very much.

    Thanks

Have you considered applying filters to the spreadsheet and using the built-in search functionality?

    1. Click anywhere in the table.
    2. Click the 'Data' tab on the ribbon.
    3. Press the 'Filter' button. (A bunch of drop-down arrows will appear next to each column header)
    4. Click on any of the drop-down buttons and type in the search field (it's about midway down the menu that pops up when you click the drop-down button).

You can search full names/cities, or partials.

*EDIT* - To clarify, after you type the text into the search field, simply press Enter to filter the existing table.

I see where you are coming from; unfortunately, the setting in which this will need to be applied - will not accept this process with open arms... think of a telephone operator, he/she must be able to use an easier process to access someones phone number (in my case - extentions, emails, etc).
