    Create list of values which meet criteria from a drop down list

    Hello,

    I am trying to create a more visually appealing sheet which presents data from a master list of information. For explanation purposes of used the following example:

    We have several co-workers, an each is fluent multiple different languages, this is shown in the table below (master list). I would like to create a drop down list where the language can be selected. Selecting a specific language would give a list of all who are fluent in the selected language.Master List.pngDrop Down Selection.png

    Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

    Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Attached is a mock up of what I am trying to accomplish. The 2nd tab shows the master list where all the data comes from. And the first tab shows the home page where I mocked up how I would like the results to look; two drop down boxes where one can select a name and the other can select type of equipment. The results would show either what equipment the selected name is competent on or who is competent on the selected equipment. Note the master list will always be growing (more columns and rows) as time goes on so the home page needs to be able to adapt to this automatically.

    The data in this excel sheet is more like the data I actually have. Its all based on who is competent to run what equipment.

    Named ranges:
    Diggers =Master_List[[#Headers],[Dozer]:[Skidsteer]]
    Operators =Master_List[[ Name ]]

    DV dropdown for operators --> =Operators
    DV for Eqpt --> =Diggers

    By the way, what countries are the languages Dozer, Loader, ... spoken in
