Copy Paste makes excel jam

I have a problem with one of my excel files which I use a lot.
I often need to copy and paste cells from the excel into my browser.
Usually, when I copy, and then try to paste, it doesn't work.
When this happens, my CPU rises dramatically and the excel file doesn't respond for 15-30 seconds.
This is driving me crazy.
I tried using all methods of copying (CTRL+C, menu, mouse) - all with the same result.

The file itself is not that big (about 2.5 MB), it has 10 spreadsheets, 400 rows in each, and about 15 columns. My computer is very strong, so it isn't the problem.

Has anyone come across something like this?

You could try flushing out your clipboard:

Click Start
Click Run

Type CLIPBRD

Click OK

The clipboard viewer should appear, on the Task Bar of the viewer select Edit, Delete
It will ask you if you want to delete the contents of your clipboard, answer Yes.

Thanks, I already tried that a few times in the past, but it didn't change a thing.
The clipboard only has my last "COPY" anyway.
