Post Multiple Error Bars on Graph

    Hi there,

I am doing an assignment and was wondering if anybody has an idea as to how to put two sets of error bars (one on SD and the other on SEM) on a single column in a column graph? When I try to add another error line, it replaces the original one?

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    S

    stefc, welcome to the forum.

Without seeing your data or your chart, it's really difficult to suggest changes to your current setup.

Maybe chart one of the series on a secondary axis? That would allow you to use a different setup for the error bars.

    cheers.

Probably no need to use the secondary axis.

You will need a second data series though if you want 2 different values for error bars in any particular direction.

The second data series can be format to have no formatting so the error bars appear to come from the same data point.

I was wondering if you would be able to assist me in creating the 2nd data series? Im not too sure what that means. And creating the 2nd set of error bars for the SEM walues corresponding to the means.

    VERY much appreciated.

Re: Multiple Error Bars on Graph

I have created a new chart which is 90% finish, in order for you to see how it has been created.

The chart is based on the data in G10:I12

You then apply the 2 different error bar ranges, J11:J12 and K11:K12

Remove the formatting from the Red/Max column only.

Finally set the overlap to 100%

You could also format the colour of individual columns to make extra wide columns with non overlapped error bars. As currently the cover each other.
