I am starting a new spreadsheet and when i click in a cell and move the mouse it starts highlighting. Is there a setting that I need to turn off or on?

I am starting a new spreadsheet and when i click in a cell and move the mouse it starts highlighting. Is there a setting that I need to turn off or on?
Do you have Scroll lock on?
Are you holding the mouse button down as you move around?
Where there is a will there are many ways.

No i am not holding down the mouse. Scroll lock? Where can I find this feature.
It's a keyboard key.. usually near the Break or Print Screen keys.
There should be a light on your keyboard indicating if it is on or off (near the CapsLock and NumLock identifiers) the icon looks like a pushpin...
Thanks, found the scroll lock button. It is not on though.
Maybe a screen shot or something to show what you are seeing.
Press F8 to toggle EXTend mode?
