A way to show conflicting start/end date tasks

    Hi All,

I've been tasked to create a spreadsheet that does what project software does (unfortunately we don't have the budget for MS Project or to pay for 3rd party project software)

Daddylonglegs helped me solve a problem of conditionally formatting people/tasks if the dates start/end dates conflict with time off schedules which I now use a formula for, but now I'm looking for a way to mark conflicting tasks. For instance, if a subsequent task conflicts with a assignment already tasked out, I want to be notified in some way.

I have attached a spreadsheet as an example this time. In this example, I want to show the cells filled with RED as a conflict, but NOT the very first task that has the conflict. If you notice I tried to create a formula that would show which tasks satisfy the condition, but almost all of them are marked TRUE.

Is there anyway of doing this?

Do not know if your company allows it but:

OpenProj by Serena Software is a desktop replacement of Microsoft Project.

    Freeware is always nice.

Ya, I offered that and other software but "opensource" scared em. They just want something very simple and I thought I'd just ask on this forum.
