    Hyperlinks:on my hard drive

I have a number of Worksheets with hyperlinks pointing to files on my hard drive. If I attempt to copy these hyperlinks from one worksheet to another, the addresses become corrupted. This problem does not occur with URL addresses. Can anyone help please...

    Hello Phil Scanlan,

can you provide a sample of the hyperlink before and after the copy operation? In what way does the corruption manifest?

    cheers

    Hi teylyn
The original hyperlink address is C:\Users\Phil\Documents\Patternform\2010 Mar\herp011g.htm. If I copy this hyperlink to a new spreadsheet an error occurs when trying to use the hyperlink "The address of this site is not valid - check the address and try again". When I edit the hyperlink the address reads 2010%20Mar\herp011g.htm

    Phil,

the workbook that you copy the hyperlink to, has that been saved yet? I get the same kind of error message, but only when I copy the hyperlink cell into an unsaved workbook. That is because Excel can not resolve the relative path to the hyperlink target from an unsaved workbook.

    Hi Teylyn
I think you have solved my problem - if I save the new workbook the hyperlink works correctly although curiously if I edit the hyperlink the address is still 2010%20Mar\herp011g.htm as per my previous example. Many thanks for your help
