Question linking to a changing source

    longtime lurker, first time poster

the way I have things setup now, I have my structure setup as folders:
    Period1
    ------Week1
    ------------Monday.xls
    ------------Tues.xls
    ------------Wed.xls
    ------------Thurs.xls
    ------------Fri.xls
    ------------etc..
    ------Week2
    ------Week3
    ------etc..
    Period2
    Period3
    etc..

Tues.xls pulls data from Mon.xls, Wed.xls pulls data from Tues.xls and so on

My dilemma lies when I start a new week and I need to Mon.xls to pull from Sun.xls the previous week.

I cannot, for the life of me, come up with the most proficient solution.

    TIA for any help.

    Hi,

Is it vital that you have these separate workbooks spread across these folders? Can all your data not be incorporated in a single workbook? I realise that may involve some redesign but you will simplify immensely the business of b/f & c/f as well as summarisations and/or analysis.

Re: linking to a changing source

"Monday" occurs about 52 times a year. If you want to distinguish between your "Mondays", then use the complete date, and not just the weekday.

Monday, 10-May-2010 is unique and will not occur on any other day.

Label your data/spreadsheet names with real dates, then you won't run into the problem you're facing.
