    minus % from a whole number?

    Hi,
    can anyone tell me how i can make a formula to minus ie: -11% in one cell from a whole number in another to get the result?

    You could multiply by the remaining percentage

    =A1*0.89

    Or

    =A1-A1*0.11

    TIP OF THE DAY:

    If you're going to multiply percentages, you should definitely round the result to "lock" the value at something meaningful and consistent to you. Otherwise, the answers you see in the cell may not match the long decimal result that is actually in the cell, and summing a bunch of those cells creates problems.

    For example:

    Notice the results of each row in B and C appear to be the same all the way down, but when you SUM the results at the bottom, the column B answer is wrong. This is what happens when you SUM long-decimal values without proper rounding enforced.

    or :

    =A1*(100%-11%)

    I prefer to use the % sign rather than decimals, and putting it in this form I have found is easier understood when referring to general texts on percentages!
