Formatting issue: copying text between Excel & Word

I am quite an experienced Excel/Word user, but I have come across a problem, which I don't know how to solve, other than make all the necessary changes manually. I have a spreadsheet where several cells contain a considerable amount of formatted text, including italics. I want to be able to copy the blocks of text to various Word documents, and I have managed to get the italics formatting copied. But, the apostrophes always change - instead of being the standard "69" type, they change into the type that is the same everywhere. Is there any way of copying the text so that the apostrophes remain of the "69" type, or do I have to change them manually each time?

You could try using the =CHAR() function and see if that holds when you copy/paste over to Word.
Numbers 147 & 148 are the ones your interested in.
