    Statistics

    Hi People,

Ive been a bit of a lurker for some time (bit to scared to post ) but i have run into a little problem so i think it's time is aksed you Gurus to see if theres a way to complete my task.

i have a list of clients for each month - some months have different clients i have all this data inputted in a workbook such as Jan09, Feb09 etc upto April 10

each client has a stat to see how many times they have called us as i say there are different clients each month

i have a full list of the clients in Workbook (Telephony stats) i want to pull all the call data and match it up with the client so:

    Jan feb march
    Client1 2 10 100
    Client2 100 1 5

so it pulls it to the main client list of the montly client list - if that makes sense ?

    any pointers would be great

    thanks

    Stu

    hi stu,

are you familar with the vlookup function?

you could try this, create a list of all your clients in a separate sheet and vlookup the respective months.
    ...........................jan................................feb...........................................mar.....................................
    client a vlookup(client a, jan wksht) vlookup(client a, feb wksht) vlookup(client a, mar wksht)
    client b
    client c

    Hi Mate

    thanks for the reply

what i need is to pick the stat up for the client by name

so in the main sheet i have the client main list i want the data in

then i have seperate sheets with the clients in workbook months with the raw stats in (i dont want to go through and copy and paste else ill be there for hours lol.

got about 14 workbooks with about 70 - 115 clients in each the amount is different each month so i could have 70 one month and the next could have 79 etc etc

see i could just copy and paste - but the order of the client list changes also - ive re ordered them into Alphabetical but this seemed to confuse things.

vlookup - i have used many years ago so not really upto date with what it can do

    can you pick say

Client stat and drop it in the main workbook under the month?

    Re: Statistics

hi stu, can you upload a sample of your excel?

there are a few methods you can use...
does each client appear more than once in each workbook?
if no, vlookup can locate the number of calls due to the client.
if yes, you may need to use a sumif function
alternatively, you can put all your 14 workbook of data into one main worksheet and use a pivot table. before doing so, you need to enter the respective months in each worksheet. your pivot table output will be by clients, number of calls and month.
