    Charting historical data

I am trying to chart month-to-month historical data in a sheet where each row is a year and there are 12 columns, one for each month; i.e., columns are comprised of year-over-year data and rows are comprised of month-to-month data for the 12 months in a given year. I would like to graph the overall trend that shows month-to-month data points for as many years worth of data that I have. Is there an easy way to do this without essentially having to reorganize all the data into a single row?

    Hello matthewb,

    welcome to the forum.

Start with a line chart with the first year's data. Then edit the data source. Select the first year data, then hold the Ctrl key and select the next year's data, etc.

The difficulty will be getting some kind of legible label onto the X axis. For this, you may need to create one loooong row with labels in the appropriate cells.

    see attached.

    cheers
