Link file with changing filename

I have a filename that I would like to link to in excel, however the filename changes.

the file name is as follows;

spreadsheet5000_June_10_10.xls

once the spreadsheet is updated, the date in the filename is changed but the rest remains the same. How would I link to the file reguardless of the change?

I was thinking somethikng like..

"filelocation\spreadsheet5000_***********.xls where the asterisks would resemble some type of wildcard..

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have that same issue at my job and here is what I do. Every week I have to put together a book for Management and the data is linked to all various spreadsheets. What you should is have it linked to one master spreadsheet and then copy and paste the data in when new data arrives.

example-
I have a file linked to B1weekly and every week the reports changes to B1 Weekly 6-7, B1 Weekly 6-14, etc..

So I take the new data and copy it into the B1 Weekly file. That way the links are not broken and Im getting up to date data.
