Horizontal "center across" in a cell

    Hi,

I'm not sure the Subject reflects what I'm looking for.

As all know one can "center across" a line in a MS "Word" document, which puts some extra spaces in order for the text line to start and end at both, left & right, margins.

    My question:

Is there a way to implement that feature in a cell ?

Whenever the cell is wider that the typed text - the text will be "stretched" to fit the cells width.

It will be nice if that can be implemented in a Centered&Merged cell as well.

    Thanks, Elm

When you go to Format Cells, Alignment, you can choose Distributed from the Horizontal List.

    Is that what you mean?

    Thank you.

I'm now much closer than before.

This works fine - except the fact that the format does not retain when I change/add/delete even one character in that cell.
The Horizontal Alignment changes by itself from 'Distributed' to 'Left (Indent)'.

Could you check it in your Excel (I'm using, "2003". at the moment).

Could this be a 'Bug' or is it so 'by design' ?

It seems to retain the distributed format for me

try checking the Justify Distributed checkbox in the Format window...

Also, maybe try preformatting it, then enter the text and do your editing....

    Excellent !!!

Checking the 'Justify Distributed' check-box, - did it.
