    Removing Hidden Links

I have a pretty large workbook that has had bits and pieces pulled from different things. However, it seems to have links which I can not remove and am kind of stuck. There is only one single link I want and that is a button that runs a macro on another workbook and that is the only one that shows.

Anyone know how to remove these "hidden" links? They do not exist in any formulas. I have a feeling that it is increasing my workbook size also.

    Good afternoon Dulanic

Bear in mind that links don't have to be in formulae ; they can be hiding in named ranges, charts and objects. I would have a scout round for them in that order. Also, use Edit > Links to find out what the name of the file is, and use Edit > Find to serch for the filename - a cell containing a formula may well look like an empty cell.

If all that fails, consider downloading John Walkenbachs PUP utility - this has a link finder that will find all links in a workbook. An evaluation copy is free and is not crippled in any way. Download it from here.

No web query. Someone else started this file and I took it over, I dont know WHAT they did but wow just wow what a mess..... It was 25MB and had over 800 hidden links I found with PuP. I have removed the majority of them and got it down to 16MB, but that still seems rather large.... but I think part of that is it has 4 pivot tables which pull A1:Z6700... it is a lot of data. I'll keep working with PuP to see what else I can find that I can remove.

K im going to set this solved. PuP was a good idea and helps a ton. I still have a lot of work to do but I love the options it has, I've used the formula export option too and found some formulas that were way off in nowhere land not even being used too so that helped.

    Re: Removing Hidden Links

DominicB - thank you for posting the link to the PUP7 add-in utility. The trial version cleaned out HUNDREDS of hidden email links on three different worksheets in less than a second! Without this utility, I was doomed to delete them individually, which was insane! I will purchase the full version and live happily ever after!
