    vlookup #value!

    Hi,

    I have spent hours trying to workout why this doesnt want to play and I still dont understand. I trying to use VLookup the formula is standard

    e.g. =VLOOKUP(C92,$J$92:$K$1105,2,FALSE)

    C92 is a text string, as is the table array.

    In some cases I get the #value! error I think this is because there is a 255 character limit. Does any body know how to get around this, the maximum length of text I have in a single cell can go up to 800 characters

    Thanks,

    Oliver

    vlookup will quite happily return more than 800 characters in a cell..
    value errors occur when you try to do maths with text. eg 5*"fred" ,2+"monday"
