    Special Formatting

    I have 5 cells across….
I enter a value in the 1st cell…. (1st cell only, number types only-no text)
If the 1st cell has a value, I want all 5 cells in the row to be filled with a color.
If there is not a value, none of them will be filled with a color.

    Formula/VBA/Macro?

    Thanks,
A novice but somewhat experianced Excel user,
    Dave

    Re: Special Formatting

Select all 5 cells and go to Format|Conditional Formatting

Select Formula Is from 1st drop down box and enter formula:

=ISNUMBER($A1) where A1 is the first cell in the selection (left most).

Click Format and select colour from Pattern tab.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
