Removing Partial Data From Columns

I would be very grateful if someone could help me find a solution.

I have a spreadsheet with a couple thousand entries.

When I first began, years ago, in one column, I used to enter the item and cost but now I have found it much better if I use a seperate column for costs and so basically, I want to highlight the entire column and remove only the prices.

To give you an illustration:

Teddy - £5
Book - £2
Coffee Table
Book

To be more precise, I would actually want to get rid of the ' - £5' and be left with only 'Teddy'.
