Smile COUNTIF with multiple criteria function

I have attached an example of a spreadsheet (v. 2000) which may make more sense than my forthcoming explanation of what I'm trying to count!

Basically, I have two columns of data, the first being a list of weight ranges (Dome) and the second being a package size (Spec) they have been packed into. I am trying to create a crosstab table that then counts the number of times a "dome" falls into a "spec" range. However, the dome range is a between weight range. For example, how many occurrences are there between weight range 1.75>2.00 for spec 95

    Dome Spec
    1.730 105
    1.760 105
    1.815 95
    1.815 95

I'm not really sure whether I have made myself very clear on this. But any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

re: COUNTIF with multiple criteria function

Hi, I have a suggestion using COUNT with multiple criteria. The formulas must be entered with ctrl/shift/enter (not just enter) to function.

re: COUNTIF with multiple criteria function

Thank you both for your help. Both methods work a treat. For the SUMPRODUCT option, I just need to change the max weight, eg 1.25 to 1.2499, otherwise it counts it the next weight band as well. I think I will use the COUNTIF example though as I understand the formula a little clearer.

    Thanks again so much!
