Save as a pipe delimited text file

I have a csv file which I have opened in Excel 2008 on my mac.

How do I export it as a pipe delimited text file.

I can only see an option to save it as a tab delimited text file.

If I cant save as a pipe delimited text file,
Is there a way to convert from a tab delimited text file to a pipe delimited text file?
    Using Excel for Mac
    But mostly use Google Sheets

You could always open the tab delimited file in a text editor (word, wordpad, notepad), replace all tabs with pipes, and save as txt?

maybe if you save as tab delimited
    open with word
    find/replace ^t with pipe character

Tried these 2 but did not work.

Anyhow, I had to do a windows hack with regional settings and then it worked.
