Question Equation in terms of 'x' and replacing 'x' for a cell

    Hello,

If I have a given equation in terms of a variable, how do I format a worksheet, such that if given a table where specific cells have given values (such as a1 = 1, b1 = 4, c1= 8), a differenct row of cells will calculate the value of the formula with reference to the cells with values (such as the formula applied to cell a1, b1, c1)
Is there a consolidated and easy way of doing this rather than just typing in the formula = equation, with the referenced cells as x?

You could use a named range. For example, select any cell in row 1. Then do Define Name, Name: x, Scope: Sheet1, Refers to: =Sheet1!$A1.

Now x always refers to the cell in col A in the same row in which the formula appears.
