How to copy the cells without any change in the formula incorporated in that cell.

Hi All,

I have a cell (d2) which is formatted by the formula say example =sum(e5:e30).

I want to copy the cell d2 and paste it in cell a2, but the formula should not change.

in my case formula(=sum(e5:e30) ) is changed in a2 when i copied from cell d2..

i know we can copy the formula and paste it in another cell.

but my requirement is to copy the formulated cell and have to paste it in another cell but the formula should not change..

is there any option in excel.

Please help me out...

If you change the formula to this:

=SUM($E$5:$E$30)

then you should be able to copy/paste it to another cell without change.

Another way is to select the cell with the formula in, click in the formula bar and highlight the complete formula, then Ctrl-C to copy it, press the <Esc> key, then move to the cell where you want the formula copied to and do CTRL-V.
