Solver add-in not working - error in model

    Hi,

I want to calculate a system of 2 equations with 2 variables in excel. Using solver add-in to calculate results in error:

Error in model. Please verify that all cells and constraints are valid.

    ...and they are.

I did this calculation in a hand calculator and I got the results that appear in the excel i'll attach. (the variables are x and Fc)

That solution in fact is not 100% correct, because cells B9 and D9 are not exactly null, but I accept that. They can be -+ 5 apart from 0.

    So why the solver error?

    Thank you

Merged cells... scourge of Excel. You seem to have taken a special effort to make sure hardly any cells at all aren't merged!

Have a quick look at this forum and you will see the prevailing contributor opinion on merged cells; 'unmitigated scorn' would probably cover my viewpoint.

    After unmerging cells, results are:
    2492.27
    0.57

The vitriol is directed not at you, but at the designers of Excel who, to put it bluntly, introduced a very attractive cosmetic device without any concern about its corrosive effect on the actual design paradigm of the software - for shame, developers. I don't blame anyone for using merged cells before they've learned this lesson, just never again...

I don't have any merged cells yet I'm still getting the same error message. I downloaded Solver for my mac. I even tried two different problems but it's not working and I made sure to put in all the correct formulas and data, I triple-checked. I don't know what's wrong.
