    Age and area query

    Hi,

    Can someone please help, I have ages on a seperate tab "Data" column E and areas on the same tab column A, what I'm trying to do is count all 18-21 y.o. for each area, but I can't see what is wrong with the formula below.

    =COUNTIFS(Data!A:A,B1,Data!E:E,">=18",Data!E:E,"<=21")

    many thanks

    Re: Age and area query

    Are you sure the items in column A match exactly with B1 (i.e. spelling, no extra spaces in cell, etc.).
    Where there is a will there are many ways.

    I've just had a look and they match exactly, but still no change.

    NBVC,

    Thanks for the help, I have just re-wrote the formula and it now seems to want to work, once again thanks for looking.

    If the formula doesn't seem to calculate properly when you change items.. check that your Automatic Calculations is not set to Manual.

    Go to Office Button and click Excel Options.

    Click on Formulas in the left pane and then select Automatic in the Calculation options section of the Right pane.
