    Instalment numbers

    Hi Everyone!!

The place where I work, we maintain manual registers to record most of the things. Off late, I digitilized as much as work as I can. There is however, a small thing that irked me much. So friends, need your help.

We give loans to our employees and recover them from their salary every month. Depending upon the loan and number of installments that loan is, we update our registers like 1/10, 2/10, 3/10...or 1/72,2/72,3/72....etc.

Now in excel if I type 1/10 (setting format to fraction) and drag it down, same 1/10 gets repeated but not 2/10,3/10.

I know somehow want to figure it, only to change the numerator but not the denominator.

    Help Guys..!!

If you are wanting ??/72 fractions, you could enter a formula like this in A1 having the column formatted as ??/72 (Fraction, Custom)

    Formula: copy to clipboard

    The result will be:

    A
    1
    1/72
    2
    2/72
    3
    3/72
    4
    4/72
    5
    5/72
    6
    6/72
    7
    7/72
    8
    8/72
    9
    9/72
    10
    10/72
    11
    11/72
    12
    12/72
    13
    13/72

If you want a different denominator, just change the 72 to whatever you want. If you want to maintain the 72 but just have the numerator increase even past 72 format as a Fraction, Custom and enter ???/72. This will let the numerator increment as far as you want to go.
