Using lookup or other function to sum a table

I would like to create a table that sums the rows (or colums depending on how you organize) up to a certain date, for instance in June I would like to know that the total to date is X.

I believe this could be done by using a lookup within a sum but I am encountering trouble getting these functions to work together.

Please let me know any ideas that you have, any help you can provide woudl be appreciated.

I have attached a sample for your reference.

I do have excel 2007 if there is a function available that is not available for the .doc format.
