    Smile locking cells

Firstly, I am a total noob at excel. I only know the basic stuffs, and I'm not familiar with the macro and all that. I am willing to learn tho. So uhm, I wanna know if there's a way to lock a cell.

For example, I have a drop down list on Column A with choices Y and N. And on Column B another drop down list with choices Y and N. If they pick choice Y on Column A, is there a way that Column B would automatically be N without having to click on it or having the user fill it out.

Thank you so much in advance!

    Re: locking cells

    Hello mewyuziel,

this is not about locking cells, but rather about calculating a cell based on the content of another cell.

If you have a dropdown list with Y or N choices in A1, then you can use a formula in B1

    =if(A1="Y","N","Y")

B1 would not be a dropdown list but a calculated result.

    cheers
