    Countif Formula

    Hi

I am wanting a formula to calculate how many times a street name appears in a range.
I am wanting the end user to type the street name into a cell, and this value to be used in the formula.

    =COUNTIF(Range, Contains B2)

I tried =COUNTIF(A:A, "**"&B2) but it doesnt work.

    Example of data

    Column A
    12 Mornington St
    8 Arrow Rd
    3 Keyzer Tce

The user would type the street name only (so Mornington St) into cell B2.

The formula would then calculate how many times Mornington St (value of B2) appears in Column A.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    KT

    Hi KTYT,

    Welcome to the forum

You only need one asterisk in your formula, i.e. =COUNTIF(A:A,"*"&B2)
