    Football League Predictor Workbook

    Hello,

Apologies if this should be in a different forum, but I wasn't 100% sure!

I want to create a worksheet where people predict who will finish where in the coming football season. So there will be a list of the teams in column A on every sheet. Column B on Sheet 1 will be where the teams actually are in the league. Sheet 2’s Column B will have one person’s predictions on it, Sheet 3 another person’s etc etc.

If somebody correctly predicts one team’s position they will get 0 points. Therefore, if they were to correctly predict the position for every single team (unlikely I know) then they will have a score of 0 points, with the lower your score, the better you have done. If they think someone will come 1st but they come 2nd they will get one point, etc etc. Effectively for each position they are wrong they get one point (this will need to work for predicting a team to come too high AND too low)

How would I write this workbook so each persons score is automatically calculated based on the predictions they have made before the start of the season and all I would have to do throughout the year is update Sheet 1 which is where the actual teams lie in real life.

I know this is quite a long way to ask for what is effectively one formula but I’m stumped on this one!

    Thanks

Straightfoward if the list of teams is in the same order on all sheets. (Certainly possible otherwise.)

Attached is an example. As bonus, it highlights any selections with 0 points.

Copy the sheet called "Fred" as many times as needed for other participants.

Well, I'm a Yank who knows nothing about English football I Googled for "England football standings" and took the first league I found, then used RAND to arrange the list in random order. I figured it would be clearer if I used real teams instead of A, B, C....

    Re: Football League Predictor Workbook

    Hi

Not really familiar with this site, but am urgently trying to setup a newly improved format for my wee competition I take care of at work. I usually input and calculate everything myself, but I've manage to allow the setup to grow arms and legs. a guy I used to know done something similar with adobe but I only have excel, I know it's capable but really...I'm not.

This is the setup I'm looking for really, don't know the best way to lay it out and I'm starting to get that panicky feeling. I also am using a head to head arrangement and the winner each week after predicting 6 games will pick up 3 pts in the league and their score will count as goal difference.

Real Score Line- Hearts (2-1) Motherwell
    Your Prediction- Hearts (2-1) Motherwell = 10pts
    Your Prediction- Hearts (2-0) Motherwell = 5pts
    Your Prediction- Hearts (1-0) Motherwell = 2pts
    Your Prediction- Hearts (2-2) Motherwell = 0pts

Can anyone help, I THINK I can attach my own attempt....

    Kx
