    formatting data

    hello,
    i am new here courtesy google
    i need some help in data formatting
    i have 4 columns of data with multiple rows as below
    a b c d
    20100818 09:00:04 267 100
    20100818 09:00:07 268 50

    i want to merge column a [date] and column b[ time] into a single column in particular format as below
    a b c
    20100818 090004 267 100
    20100818 090007 268 50
    can this be done i tried some methods but failed i am not able to get zero in-front of nine i am able to get 20100818 90004

    It would help if you attached it as as a spreadsheet (Go advanced>manage attachments) so we can see how your cells are formattted (i.e is column A formatted "General", is be "Time")?

    substitute commas with semi-colons if your region settings requires

    To combine columns A and B use:

    =CONCATENATE(A1," ",B1)

    Press enter and copy down. As for the formatting, I am not sure exactly how to get rid of the :'s.

    Assuming my cell formatting guesses are correct then try this in a separate column
    =A1&TEXT(B1," hhmmss")
    You can then copy and paste special>values back over the original data in A and delete B and the new column
    Does that work for you?
