    Secondary Axis with Pivot Tables

    Hello,

I am trying to use a pivot table to create a stacked bar chart of 5 different events, and then look at those by day. I am also trying to have a line graph depicting lunar illumination on each of those days as well (which would require a secondary axis). I know how to do this with normal data, but since pivot tables are somewhat inflexible, I have having trouble creating thi secondary axis.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,

you can't create a combination chart with pivot tables. The common workaround is to copy the data for the pivot table to another area in the workbook and create a regular chart with all the bells and whistles.

see here for some ideas: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/P...cle.asp?ID=553

Technically you can. Attached is a Column+Line pivot chart with Line on secondary axis.
Note that as with all pivot charts the formatting will be lost when you change the underlying pivot table.

Having said it is possible it may well be that creating a standard chart is the best approach. It really depends on whether you can create a pivot table containing the revelant data in the right layout.
