Countifs in two columns by using a condition in 3rd column

    Dear all,

I would like to know any formula that can help me here.

    I have attached my file.

    1. I want to count "M" in column A and count "STM-16" in column B by using countifs fuction of excel. However I need to have a condition in 3rd coloumn C. If any item in coloumn C is repeated, then the corresponding items in coloumn A or B should be counted once.

Therefore my result if I dont put the condtion would be 6
However If I put the condition, the result would be 2 only.

The formula should be general since the items in column C might change. but the condition will remain same.

Not sure if it can be done with COUNTIFS but you can use this formula:

    Thank you ,

In my first post, I put the result as 2, while it should have been 3. Since there are 3 occurences under the condition I require.

I used your formula but it is giving me a result of 2. can you please recheck.

    Regards.

I only count 2 that match your condition... but since you are most likely paying for an answer at your crosslink, I will let you finish there..
