    Vlookup giving wrong answer

    Hi Everyone,

I have a workbook. it gives a rate for a worker when they enter their area 1 postcode and area 2 postcode against their age. i have a seperate tab for the different postcode areas and a seperate tab for the different rates. the postcode finder works great. the problem i am having is that when it finds the rates it is giving me the rate infront of the one it should give.

i have attached my workbook for you. the man is aged 36 and it should give the rate for area g, but it keeps giving me the rate for a man aged 35 and area f. i think it might need to +1 in the match section, but i cant seem to get it right!

    any ideas?

Looks like your indexed ranges are off by one row and off by one columns

should be, for example, in J4:

    =IF(A4="","",INDEX(RATES!$A$5:$P$50,MATCH(A4,RATES!$A$5:$A$50,0),MATCH(D2,RATES!$A$4:$P$4,0)))
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Try copy/pasting the formula again.. you probably copied it before I made a small adjustment.
