Multi ComboBoxes for Dynamic Dropdown Menus

    Hi All

I'm trying to create a dynamically changing dropdown menu system from which I will have 2 menus as follows

    System
    Subsystem

I would like the systems menus to read:

    Air_System
    Brakes
    Bodywork

When the Air_Systems option is chosen I wouuld like the subsystem menu to dynamically populate with

    Compressor
    High tone horn
    Dryer / Lubricator
    Filters / Strainers
    Gauges
Water Separators / Auto Drain Valves
    Pressure switch / Transducer
    Pressure regulator
    afety valve
    Magnet valve
    Hose / Piping
    Reservoirs
Valves / Cocks (other than Brakes)

when the Brakes option is chosen I would like the the subsysetms menu to dynamically change to :

    Brakes-Air Vacuum
    Brake relay valve
    Brake pipe
    Drivers Brake Valve / Controller
    Brake distributor
    Load proportioning valve
Hand / Parking Brakes magnet valve
    Parking brake anti-compounding valve
    EP converters
    Brake actuator / calipers/ pads
    Mechanical Linkage (incl Cable)
    Vigilance valve / DSD valve
    S Magnet valve
    T Brake Control Units

and when the Bodywork option is chosedn I would like the subsystems menus to dynamically change to:

    Windscreen wiper / washer
    Droplights
    Body side lights
    Saloon door leaves
    Cab doors
    Underframe doors
    Outside indicator lamps
    Towing coupler
    Tanks / Securing Members
    Vestibule - Gangways - Ends - Corners
    Windscreens

In future I will need to add items to the System menu which will have a new range of Subsystem items so I would like this to be scalable

Are combo boxes the best way to go about this?

Any help on this would be much appreciated

    Regards
    Donal

    Hi Siva

Thanks for the reply and the attached spreadsheet but I would like that when user chooses Air System from the Systems menu in Cell A1 then the combobox menu in B1 is dynmically populated with the subsystem items associated with these

    Compressor
    High tone horn
    Dryer / Lubricator
    Filters / Strainers
    Gauges
Water Separators / Auto Drain Valves
    Pressure switch / Transducer
    Pressure regulator
    afety valve
    Magnet valve
    Hose / Piping
    Reservoirs
Valves / Cocks (other than Brakes)

then when the user chooses Brakes from the same Systems menu in Cell A1 then the combobox menu in B1 is dynmically populated with the subsystem items associated with these:

    Brakes-Air Vacuum
    Brake relay valve
    Brake pipe
    Drivers Brake Valve / Controller
    Brake distributor
    Load proportioning valve
Hand / Parking Brakes magnet valve
    Parking brake anti-compounding valve
    EP converters
    Brake actuator / calipers/ pads
    Mechanical Linkage (incl Cable)
    Vigilance valve / DSD valve
    S Magnet valve
    T Brake Control Units

So basically I will only require 2 combobox menus the second combobox2 located in cell B1 will dynamically change based on the option chosen from the first combobox1.

    Hope this makes sense

    Donal

    it is like that only
    if you select

Bodywork from A1 - B1 shows items related to Body work only
Air_System from A1 - B1 shows only the items related to Air_Systems only
Brakes from A1 - B1 shows the items related to Brakes only

Check it by selecting Items from A1
For your understanding only i have given 3 examples (A1 to A3)

You can select any one of 3 Main itmes - B1 shows only the sub items of A1
