    Question Formula conversion

Can anyone please help with the following? Goalseek is not an option, nor is the visual Basic equivalent of it.

I have a formula which works OK. However what I need to do is change the formula to make one of the known values the subject of the formula.

    I have a cell (L14) with the formula =G14/SUM(H14+I14*(K14-J14))

    G14 is the sum of E14 and F14. E14 is C14 minus D14. H, I, J &K are integers (with H&I being lookup from another table).

So in essence what I want is to say that L14 should have the value of X. To do that, what does D14 need to be given the above, and more importantly, what do I need to type? BODMAS is beyond me I'm afraid!

Any help appreciated - I will email the spreadsheet if it helps.

    In D14,

    =C14 + F14 - (H14 + I14 * (K14 - J14)) * X
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

    Re: Formula conversion

Thanks for replying. I've used the formula but it's not giving the correct answer - it's actually giving a negative number (even if a positive number it would still be wrong) - it's the problem I've been having with my attempts.

Any ideas what may be causing that to happen?

Thank you, but it's now sorted.

It was just the placement of brackets but I wouldn't have got there if it wasnt for the help here.

    Thanks again
