Calculating Average based on user input?

Hi Guys,

wonder if you can help?
I am trying to work out how I can make an average value of some cells in a table.
Basically have 4 columns for 'scores' numbered 1-4, then 4 rows for different activities - want users to be able to put an 'x' in the relevant column per activity, then average out their scores.
So if a user puts an 'x' in the '1' column for the first row, an 'x' in the 4 columns for row 2, and 'x' in the 2 column for row 3 & an 'x' in th 3 column for row 4 - i need to calculate the average value of (1 + 4 + 2 + 3)/ 4
Is there a way to do this?
I've attached an example sheet so hopefully this makes sense!!
