    Solver speed too low

    Hi,

I'm using the solver addin in excel to do some calculations. The problem is that I have a big excel file and it takes like 30sec to solve the problem but I found out that if I run the solver in a file with nothing else on it, it's almost instantaneous.

So the problem is not the calculation per se, it's having lots of formulas around. I tried setting the calculation method to manual of course but it still takes a lot of time.

Anything I could do to make it faster?

    Thanks

If the solver is working with a lot of cells that have values dependent on other cells, then it's going to be slow. The only thing I can think of to change it is make sure your formulas are all as efficient as possible, but for us to provide any feedback on that, we'd need to see a dummy workbook. It's entirely possible that your worksheet is as good as it's going to get.

thanks for your answer...unfortunately it's very difficult to create a dummy file because the workbook has loads of formulas and the excel file would be too big...

i'll leave things as they are then

    thnks again
