    Set cell fill color based on XL cell pull down menu item

    Hi,

    I have a pull down data list in a XL(2007) cell. How can I assign a different background color to a cell based on the pull down item selection in the pull down menu. These filled color cells are constrained into a particular column only. It shouldn’t go throughout the spreadsheet.
    Ex;

    Pull down menu items

    Selection 1
    Selection 2
    Selection 3
    Selection 4

    If user selects Selection 1, assign cell fill color as YELLOW
    If user selects Selection 2, assign cell fill color as GREEN
    If user selects Selection 3, assign cell fill color as RED
    If user selects Selection 4, assign cell fill color as BLUE

    Thanks for your help.

    I found the answer.."Conditional Formatting"...but can this be done in a VBA code?

    Just out of interest, why would you want this done in VBA if you can get it done a lot easier in Excel itself?
