Fill all empty cells with a dash?

I have thousands of cells in a grid and in no particular order. They're all filled with numbers. About a third of the cells have no data, they are empty as opposed to having spaces.

Is there a way to automatically fill empty cells with a single "-" without using macros?

Select the area, Ctrl+G, Special, tick Blanks

Type a hyphen in the formula bar, press and hold the Ctrl key, press Enter.

Select the whole sheet, or your selected range.

Replace > Find what:= leave this field empty

Replace with:= -

Press Replace all

This will fill all empty cells in the used range with - (minus)

Check it out this will not replace " " ie a space, and if a macro has left traces then the used range might be larger than you think.
