    Multi-series, multi-variable Balloon graph.

    Hi;
I am an advanced user of Excel - at least to the degree that I use Excel regularly and have some solid fundamentals under my belt. However, I am perplexed on how to graph something a little unusual. Consider it a 'special case' graphing request. Here are the details ....

    1. On the X axis, I would like time based values, one week for 6 months / 1 year at a time is fine.

    2. On the Y axis, I would like values from 0 to 100 - essentially I would like the Y axis to represent the percentage chance that something is going to happen.

    3. In the graph area itself I would like 'ball' or 'balloons' to cross the X and Y axis so (for example something that is planned to happen in week 1 has a 40% chance of happening, and something that is planned to happen on week 5 has a 70% chance of happening).

3.1 I would like the SIZE of the balloon to be related to the value of the event. (For example in week 1, there is a 40% chance something will happen and it will be worth 100$, and in week 5 there is a 70% chance something will happen and it will be worth 300$).

3.2 I have a requirement that the 'balls' / 'balloons' be coloured based on what kind of event will happen. (For example in week 1, there is a 40% chance something will happen and it will be worth 100$ and it deals with our New York office, and in week 5 there is a 70% chance something will happen and it will be worth 300$ and it deals with our London office).

Help! I have struggled with this for a while - and I am not having any fun at all now.

    Hello,

have you considered a bubble chart? See attached. Each location has one series with its own colour.

    cheers

Thanks for the rapid response. Yes, this is very close. But I do not need multiple cities in the last column. When I try to add a different city in the cell of the last column - the chart does not reflect the changes of data. Can you advise? Many thanks in advance.

You can create an individual data series for each city, if you want.

Or you can chart all data as one series and use the XY Chart Labeler tool to place labels with the city name next to each bubble. Download here: http://www.appspro.com/Utilities/ChartLabeler.htm

With only one data series, all bubbles will have the same colour, but you can format the series to vary the colour by point.

    Hi there.

This is SO close, I can almost see it. Can you please review what I am trying to achieve (I built it in PowerPoint to illustrate my objectives). Many thanks in advance.

That's basically like the first file I attached, just with only two data series and the labels added with the XY Chart Labeler.

    See attached.

    cheers
