How to display a list of items that meet a condition...

    Hi all,

I'm looking for some help with Excel 2007.

I'm working on a spreadsheet with a list of all possible projects that an employee could work on. I have a separate tab where many calculations of time spent on each project are being displayed. What I'm looking to do is display a list of only the projects that have time spent on them in a separate tab.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ryan

    You could use:

    1. A Pivot Table
    2. Advanced filter with criteria, using the option to copy to another location ***

*** the AF must be initiated on the target sheet, not the source (data) sheet.

    Do you know . . . ?

Thanks! I did a bit of research on Advance Filters and was able to figure this out. I now have a new tool to use in the future!

Now for a follow up question. Is there anyway to make this filter auto update? What I mean is as a user of the spreadsheet, when I update my time spent on projects, or on new projects, do I have to run the filter to see the data updated? Or is there anyway to automate this?

    Thanks again,
    Ryan

Automation requires the use of VBA. If that is an option for you, post a sample workbook so someone can take a look at the structure. Be sure all criteria cells are identified.

Thanks for the response. I just went ahead and created a macro to update the information.

    Thanks again!
